Lead Firmware Engineer - Thermal and Explosion-Protected Cameras

About the role

Axis is looking for a Lead Firmware Engineer in Lund to set the technical direction of its firmware team, strengthen its agile ways of working and advance how it uses AI, while developing the firmware behind thermal and explosion-protected cameras. This is a technical leadership role without direct reports, working closely with the Engineering Manager and the team's system architect, with the aim of growing into a system architect role.

The team consists of 18 firmware developers working across several product areas, including thermal and explosion-protected cameras, developing in C in a Linux environment for embedded Linux products.

Key responsibilities

• Explore use cases and turn them into clear, well-structured requirements for the team
• Drive and lead AI development in a structured and systematic way
• Act as a technical discussion partner to product managers and other managers, balancing competing technical requirements
• Visualize and present the intended code architecture, including system resource requirements such as processing power and memory
• Build and maintain testing capabilities, ensuring efficient test frameworks and suites
• Coordinate firmware work across the department and with other parts of R&D, and plan deliveries aligned with AXIS OS releases
• Compile and present the team's delivered features to stakeholders outside the team

Required profile

• Experience as a firmware engineer
• Solid experience in architecture design
• Experience in technical leadership roles, with or without direct reports
• Professional proficiency in both Swedish and English
• Self-directed, proactive, and able to identify and drive improvements in ways of working and team structures

Required skills

• Bonus: experience developing in C in a Linux environment, ideally with embedded Linux
• Bonus: familiarity with Axis products and systems
• Bonus: experience with AI development or with productivity and quality improvements using agile methods and AI
• Bonus: experience facilitating agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, prioritization, demos and retrospectives
