Firmware Engineer – Fixed Dome Cameras

About the role

Axis is looking for a Firmware Engineer to join its Fixed Dome Firmware team at its headquarters in Lund, Sweden. You will build the firmware behind the next generation of fixed dome network cameras, working with colleagues in firmware, image quality, electronics, mechanical design and production test. The team shares responsibility for product projects and works in an agile way.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain firmware for network-connected fixed dome cameras.
• Adapt AXIS OS, Axis' Linux-based operating system, for new products.
• Analyse, design and implement software features for upcoming products.
• Investigate issues across the embedded system, including user-space software, kernel components and device drivers.
• Help assess and improve embedded system performance.
• Share knowledge and contribute to how the team plans and delivers its work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant experience in firmware or embedded software development, preferably 5+ years, with a strong foundation in Linux-based systems.
• Comfortable in a changing environment, taking responsibility for your work and communicating well across disciplines.
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of Linux system programming, including user space, kernel space and device drivers.
• Programming in C and/or C++.
• Continuous integration, Git and build tools.
• Agile methodology experience.
• Nice to have: debugging tools such as GDB and Valgrind, scripting in shell, Python or Perl, low-level programming for microcontrollers, and experience leading agile teams.
