About the role
The thesis project focuses on investigating how different inclination angles affect the milling process, covering aspects such as sound, power consumption, and edge toughness. The work will be carried out on‑site in Sandviken, Sweden, allowing you to build networks and receive support from the organization. It counts for 30 academic credits and lasts 20 weeks, with a flexible start date.
Key responsibilities
- Perform a theoretical review of earlier studies and related cutting edge parameters.
- Conduct experimental tests on a pre‑designed set of tools covering a suitable span of inclination angles.
- Analyze test results to assess impacts on sound, power consumption, edge toughness, and other performance metrics.
- Design a new insert geometry based on the learnings from the experiments.
Required profile
- Student background in mechanical engineering, computational science or a similar field.
- Motivation to work on‑site and collaborate with the R&D team.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is an advantage but not required.
