Senior Project Manager - HVDC Upgrades

About the role

Hitachi Energy's HVDC business develops, manufactures and delivers High Voltage Direct Current solutions that help integrate renewable energy and strengthen power grids. Its HVDC Service division manages service commitments and lifetime extensions of existing HVDC installations worldwide. It is looking for a Senior Project Manager in Ludvika to lead some of its largest and most strategically important upgrade projects, taking overall responsibility for complex international projects ranging from partial system upgrades to major modernization programmes of existing HVDC stations, with values typically between 50 and 500 MUSD.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of large, complex HVDC upgrade projects on time, within budget and in line with contractual, quality and safety requirements.
• Establish, lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams across functions and geographies.
• Own project scope, schedule, financial performance, resource planning and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders and act as the main point of contact and the customer's voice internally.
• Drive contract negotiations, variation orders, claims management and commercial discussions with Contract Management and Supply Chain Management.
• Ensure project governance by mitigating technical, commercial and operational risks and promoting health, safety and environmental best practice.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
• Extensive experience leading large, complex HVDC, substation, energy transmission or engineering projects on EP or EPC basis.
• Proven track record of delivering projects with responsibility for budget, schedule, customer relationships and overall performance.
• Leadership experience with multidisciplinary and international teams, and solid commercial understanding of contracts and stakeholder management.
• Fluent English, written and spoken; HVDC, power transmission or other complex energy infrastructure experience is highly valued.
• PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification is considered a merit.
