Senior Platform Engineer

About the role

Polar is building a billing and analytics platform for fast‑moving AI startups. As a Senior Platform Engineer you will own the reliability, scalability and operational health of the core platform that sits in the critical path of global payments and financial workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve systems to maintain high availability, predictable performance and operational stability as traffic grows.
• Identify bottlenecks, optimise critical paths and build distributed services that scale with increasing complexity.
• Define SLOs/SLIs, improve incident response and reduce operational toil through SRE and DevOps practices.
• Continuously evolve cloud infrastructure, infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD pipelines for safe, observable deployments.
• Advance logging, metrics and tracing standards to improve observability and debugging in production.

Required profile

• Deep systems thinking with a security‑ and compliance‑aware mindset.
• End‑to‑end ownership of features from infrastructure to product‑level functionality.
• Strong product judgement and high‑ownership collaboration in a small, remote‑first team.

Required skills

• SQL and data modelling.
• Designing clear, durable APIs.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Observability, logging, metrics and tracing.
