Founding Software Engineer

About the role

As a Founding Software Engineer at Cerve you will help build the data foundation for the €10 trillion food and beverage supply chain. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to design, develop and secure core infrastructure, distributed platforms and API products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, high‑performance distribution systems in production.
• Take ownership of backend services, ensuring performance, reliability, security and smooth integration.
• Drive coding standards, architecture decisions and observability solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver new features aligned with customer needs.

Required skills

• Strong programming in Go and Python.
• Experience with cloud providers such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Proficiency building and managing PostgreSQL, NoSQL and analytical databases.
• Deep understanding of multi‑threading, concurrency and parallel processing.
• Familiarity with engineering best practices, testing paradigms and peer code reviews.
• Use of AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex).
