About the role
Join ABB's Materials Technology & Electromagnetics team at the Corporate Research centre in Västerås to conduct an MSc thesis focused on understanding tonal noise in interior permanent magnet (IPM) machines. You will work on both simulation and measurement data to identify key e‑NVH features.
Key responsibilities
- Perform a literature review of e‑NVH and tonal‑noise analysis methods.
- Process simulation and measurement data using signal‑processing techniques.
- Apply data‑analysis and machine‑learning methods to predict tonal noise.
- Identify and rank the factors governing tonal‑noise generation.
Required profile
- Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science or related field.
- Good understanding of signal‑processing concepts such as FFT and frequency‑domain analysis.
- Programming and data‑analysis skills; machine‑learning experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of electric machines and willingness to learn Multiphysics simulation tools.
