Auxiliary Power Designer

About the role

Hitachi Energy Sweden's Plant Electrical Design unit, part of HVDC Engineering, delivers the auxiliary power system for HVDC stations, including auxiliary transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS and cables. It is looking for three designers to join its team, which covers system design, selectivity studies, equipment specification and cable and cable transit systems. The work is complex and customised to each customer, and the team is global.

Key responsibilities

• Create auxiliary power single line diagrams (SLD)
• Perform load calculations and prepare the list of loads
• Ensure accurate dimensioning of equipment
• Read and understand requirement specifications, review supplier drawings and take part in customer meetings
• Take part in and conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and supervise installation and commissioning
• Carry out tasks related to cable way and cable design

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in a similar role with tasks in auxiliary power, selectivity studies or leading installation and commissioning of low voltage equipment
• Collaborative approach and strong written and spoken English

Required skills

• Knowledge of CAD tools that handle electrical circuit diagrams and layouts is a plus
