Test Lead – ABB Process Control Platform

About the role

ABB is developing its next-generation Process Control Platform, used by customers across many industries worldwide. The Test Lead reports to the Cluster Manager CION and leads a growing team of test engineers in Malmö, driving automated testing solutions for a complex technology environment. The role combines strong technical expertise with leadership, collaboration and a focus on continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Product Integration Test (PIT) team, currently 6-7 engineers and expected to grow.
• Drive development of automated test solutions for embedded controllers and engineering components.
• Oversee testing of backend services, engineering tools and editors, communication layers, software libraries and complex platform functionality.
• Ensure quality and coverage for redundancy, hot swap, cybersecurity, safety, performance and system stability.
• Lead the continued development of the PIT test framework, built in Malmö for global use.
• Report test progress, quality metrics and test status to development projects and stakeholders.
• Plan and coordinate test activities within the team while acting as Scrum Master.
• Define, implement and continuously improve the test strategy and test processes.
• Collaborate with other testing organisations and development teams in Process Control Platform R&D for a consistent quality approach.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Test Lead or in a similar test leadership role in software and hardware development.
• Experience testing physical products and systems in complex technical environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with automated testing and test frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
• Scripting and basic software development.
