Power System Simulation Model Engineer

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SWEDEN AB is looking for a Power System Simulation Model Engineer to join its Grid Quality team in Västerås, Sweden. The role works on solutions that strengthen grids, enable renewable integration and accelerate the energy transition, and is aimed at fresh graduates in Electrical, Power or Energy Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, validate and deliver simulation models to customers in tenders and projects using power system tools to support grid optimization and renewable integration.
• Work with R&D and customers to gather requirements for effective technical solutions.
• Create software in the loop models of real-time control functions.
• Test and validate power system models and tools, and perform RMS simulation studies with customer networks.
• Produce clear technical documentation and reports, and share knowledge by training and collaborating with colleagues.

Required profile

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with at least three years of experience in power system analysis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of or experience with power system simulation tools such as RTDS, PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, MATLAB and EMTP.
• Interest in or experience with programming (C++, C#, FORTRAN, DSL, Python, MATLAB), control theory, signal processing and dynamic modelling.
