Control Application Engineer – FACTS

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SWEDEN AB is looking for several Control Application Engineers to join its Global Center of Competence for FACTS engineering in Vaesteras. You will be responsible for the control and protection software in customer projects worldwide, following each project from tender through design, implementation, testing and verification to energization at site. Experienced professionals and younger candidates are both welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, test and debug control logic and power control algorithms for FACTS devices
• Perform combined testing of control system software and hardware using realtime simulators
• Read customer specifications, take part in customer meetings and verify compliance in factory acceptance tests
• Maintain close contact with engineering groups, lead engineers, local offices and customers throughout the project
• Travel to site to assist with energization and ensure safe startup

Required profile

• M.Sc. in Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems, Control Systems, power electronics, automatic control theory, software engineering or a similar technical field
• Experience in software development, programming and testing
• Fluent English; Swedish is an advantage
• Ability to plan and organize daily work independently

Required skills

• Engineering experience in control theory, power systems, plants, converter stations, automation, FACTS or HVDC is beneficial
• Knowledge of power quality applications, active/reactive power concepts and MACH control system is an added advantage
