Client Engineer (Data)

About the role

Proxify is a global network of vetted remote software, data and AI professionals that helps companies scale their tech teams. As a Client Engineer (Data), you join client teams and act as the technical expert behind every data match: the technical voice in front of clients and the person who decides which data professionals are right for them.

Key responsibilities

• Run discovery calls with clients to understand their data landscape: stack, architecture, data maturity, team setup and business goals, then turn this into a precise role profile with the right skills, seniority and scope.
• Search and shortlist Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists and ML Engineers from the Proxify network, interview them and assess their technical depth and fit.
• Write clear, convincing pitches explaining why each candidate fits, and support clients through interviews and decisions.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, challenging requirements when needed and helping clients shape roles that solve their data problems.
• Work closely with Client Managers and Account Managers to meet client needs, keep timelines tight and grow long-term partnerships.
• Focus on startups, scaleups and enterprise companies building or scaling their data, analytics and AI capabilities.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, Data Scientist or in a similar data role.
• Ability to quickly read a client's data challenge and translate it into the right skills, seniority and profile.
• Confidence to run technical interviews and judge candidates across data engineering, analytics and ML.
• Native-level English; bonus points for additional languages (German, Swedish, French or Spanish).
• Experience in consulting, solutions engineering, technical recruiting or pre-sales is a bonus.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of the modern data stack: SQL, Python, Spark, dbt, Airflow, and cloud platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or Redshift.
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP).
