Casualty Underwriting Lead

About the role

The company is seeking a senior Property & Casualty Underwriting Lead to drive underwriting strategy and delivery across the Nordic region. You will own the P&C portfolio, shape risk appetite, and act as the primary commercial face of the business with brokers, capacity providers and corporate clients in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Key responsibilities

• Own the P&C underwriting strategy and P&L for the Scandinavian book within delegated authority.
• Set and maintain risk appetite, pricing discipline and underwriting guidelines aligned with capacity provider agreements.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of underwriters across multiple Nordic locations.
• Build and sustain senior relationships with brokers, capacity/carrier partners and key corporate clients.
• Identify new business opportunities and product lines to drive profitable portfolio growth.
• Report performance to capacity providers, ensuring binder terms and authority limits are upheld.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims and compliance teams to manage exposure, volatility and regulatory requirements.
• Represent the business at market events and industry forums across the region.

Required profile

• Proven track record in Property & Casualty underwriting, preferably with P&L ownership.
• Leadership experience in an MGA or delegated authority environment.
• Deep knowledge of the Nordic insurance market, regulatory landscape and broker dynamics.
• Fluency in English; strong working proficiency in a Scandinavian language is a plus.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as ACII, CPCU or equivalent.
