R&D FPGA Developer - Power Quality Applications

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SWEDEN AB is looking for a highly skilled R&D FPGA Developer in Vaesteras, Sweden. The role covers designing, developing and testing FPGA-based solutions for advanced power quality applications, contributing to the next generation of energy management technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and verify complex FPGA architectures for real-time control, data acquisition and signal processing in power quality systems.
• Develop VHDL/Verilog code, simulation testbenches and verification strategies.
• Collaborate with power electronics engineers, software developers and system architects to define requirements and integrate FPGA solutions.
• Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and system-level debugging of FPGA designs.
• Optimise FPGA designs for performance, resource utilisation and power consumption.
• Document design specifications, implementation details and test reports.
• Stay up to date with FPGA technologies, development tools and industry trends, and contribute to the full product development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience of 5+ years in FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog for industrial or embedded applications.
• Experience with Xilinx or Lattice FPGA development tools.
• Knowledge of power electronics concepts is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong problem-solving skills, proactive attitude and excellent written and verbal English.
