Global Engineering Manager - Electrical Design and AC Protection & Control

About the role

HVDC technology is a key enabler of the energy transition, connecting existing grids to large-scale offshore and onshore wind projects. The HVDC Department for Automation & Communication employs engineers with long experience in electrical design, AC protection and control, SCADA & HMI and auxiliary automation. As Global Engineering Manager Electrical Design and AC Protection & Control, you will lead an office of expert engineers in Vaesteras.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an office of engineers who take part in tenders and execution projects, defining, procuring and monitoring delivery of Substation Automation (SA) and Protection & Control systems for AC substations as part of HVDC deliveries.
• Monitor engineering progress and staff needs in all ongoing tenders and projects.
• Mentor colleagues and drive the development of the department's work methods.
• Take responsibility for the area and collaborate with other departments to improve project delivery.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of management experience leading technical teams.
• Solid technical background in electrical design of Substation Automation and Protection & Control systems.
• Good knowledge of designing according to grid codes and validating designs with grid network studies.
• Practical design experience and documented field and commissioning experience.
• Experience leading organisations working with sub-suppliers and partners.
• Electrical Engineering degree at M.Sc. or corresponding level.
• Goal-oriented, with a leadership style that lets teams work independently, and strong communication skills.
