Area Head of Customs – Nordics

About the role

As Area Head of Customs for the Nordics, you will lead one of the region's largest Customs organisations, overseeing roughly 400 colleagues across multiple countries. The role combines business ownership, organisational leadership and large‑scale transformation to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Nordic Customs strategy aligned with customer needs, market opportunities and Maersk’s integrator ambitions.
• Own overall business performance across financial, operational and customer metrics, driving sustainable and profitable growth.
• Lead large‑scale transformation initiatives, adopting new technologies, standardised processes and modern ways of working.
• Build and develop a high‑performing, multi‑country leadership team, ensuring succession pipelines and organisational readiness.
• Maintain strong governance, compliance and risk management across all countries, acting as senior escalation point for critical matters.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in a multinational, complex business environment.
• Proven track record of delivering business transformation, cultural change and performance improvement at scale.
• Strong commercial and operational leadership capability with a solid understanding of Customs, international trade or regulatory compliance.
• Ability to influence across a matrix organisation and align diverse stakeholders behind common goals.
• Relevant degree preferred; Customs or Trade Compliance qualifications are advantageous.
