About the role

Alstom is looking for a skilled welder to join the collision‑damage repair team in Västerås. You will work in a dynamic workshop environment, repairing and modifying damaged rail vehicles while collaborating closely with engineers, quality, and procurement colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Replace and align body components on damaged vehicles.
• Perform welding, adhesive bonding, and riveting operations.
• Disassemble and re‑assemble vehicle structures.
• Work with black steel, stainless steel and aluminium materials.

Required profile

• Relevant training or experience in welding.
• Previous work on vehicle repair or similar industrial sectors.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Good communication in Swedish and basic English.

Required skills

• Black MAG welding (145 2‑12 mm).
• Stainless‑steel MAG welding (145 2‑12 mm).
• Aluminium MIG welding (141 2‑12 mm), TIG welding (141) and pin welding (131/111).
• Non‑destructive testing: visual inspection, penetrant testing, magnetic‑powder testing.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings.
