About the role
ABB Robotics is seeking a Master’s student to conduct a thesis on learning robot‑individual physics models using calibration data and test measurements. The work will be carried out within the Motion Control department of ABB Robotics in Västerås.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate how production data can be used to extract robot‑specific characteristics.
- Develop machine‑learning methods to integrate extracted information with physics‑based models.
- Propose a framework for continuously updating individual robot models from normal production data.
Required profile
- Enrolled in a Master’s program in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Strong interest in machine learning, system identification, physics‑based modeling and control theory.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python.
- Basic programming knowledge in C/C++.
