Senior Data Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Datatonic, you will design and develop scalable, high‑performance data pipelines that power AI‑driven products. You will ensure data flows efficiently, is readily accessible for analytics, and supports machine‑learning models across our Google Cloud platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build, optimize and maintain robust data pipelines for visualization and ML applications.
• Leverage cloud‑based platforms and big‑data processing tools such as GCP, dbt and Looker.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers and analysts in an agile environment.
• Architect, maintain and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and best‑practice guidance to the engineering team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience designing and building scalable data solutions.
• Strong programming expertise in Python and/or Java, with solid SQL skills.
• Hands‑on experience with ETL processes, Hadoop‑based technologies (e.g., Spark) and streaming frameworks such as Beam or Flink.
• Proven ability to write tested, resilient and well‑documented code.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure on GCP (AWS a plus) and a problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Start‑up/scale‑up experience.
• Command‑line and Linux scripting proficiency.
• API development experience using Python or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of machine learning, data mining, statistics and visualization.
• Client‑facing experience and contributions to open‑source projects.
