About the role
Join ABB's Materials Technology & Electromagnetics team at the Corporate Research centre in Västerås, Sweden, to conduct an MSc thesis on e‑NVH (electromagnetic noise, vibration, and harshness) analysis of traction machines. You will investigate how design parameters influence e‑NVH performance using a Multiphysics simulation framework.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a literature review on e‑NVH mechanisms and noise reduction techniques in electric machines.
- Perform electromagnetic simulations and analyse the impact of design parameters on e‑NVH performance.
- Link machine design features with electromagnetic forces, structural dynamics, and acoustic response using simulation and post‑processing tools.
- Identify promising design solutions and document findings.
Required profile
- Master of Science student in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or a related field.
- Good knowledge of electric machines and electromagnetic principles.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Required skills
- Electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS preferred).
- Fundamentals of e‑NVH (beneficial).
