About the role
Join ABB's Materials Technology & Electromagnetics team in Västerås to develop a mechanical digital twin for additively manufactured parts. The project runs from February to July and counts for 30 ECTS credits.
Key responsibilities
- Set up a digital twin that reproduces the as‑built geometry of metal‑additive‑manufactured components.
- Use process simulation tools to predict geometry and validate results with 3D scanning.
- Perform finite‑element analysis for selected load scenarios.
Required profile
- Technical background in materials, mechanical engineering, physics or a related field.
- Understanding of basic solid mechanics concepts.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Strong team spirit and ability to work independently.
Required skills
- FEM simulation using ANSYS or equivalent software.
- Experience with 3D scanning for validation (preferred).
- Coding skills are a plus but not mandatory.
