About the role
Join the R&D Materials Development group at Seco in Fagersta for a 22‑week master thesis focused on the sintering kinetics of recycled cemented carbide. You will work on cutting‑edge circularity research, exploring how higher recycled powder content influences sintering behavior and material properties.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute sintering experiments using a lab‑scale furnace.
- Measure magnetic properties, dimensional shrinkage, hardness (Vickers) and toughness (Palmqvist) of sintered samples.
- Perform SEM and EBSD analysis to assess WC grain size and microstructure.
- Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology in collaboration with the supervisor.
- Analyse results, draw conclusions and write a comprehensive thesis.
Required profile
- Current MSc student in material science, material chemistry, metallurgy, physics or mechanical engineering.
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
