Lead Platform Engineer - Sweden
allica-bank
Job description
About the role
Allica Bank is expanding into Sweden and is looking for a founding Lead Platform Engineer to set the technical foundation of its cloud self-service platform. You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the UK Platform Engineering Team on shared standards and tooling. The role is hands-on: you build alongside the team, make consequential technical decisions independently from day one, and mentor platform engineers as the function grows.
Key responsibilities
- Own Allica Sweden's instance of the Allica platform, adapting the UK stack for Sweden: landing zones, subscriptions, network topology, container runtime and resilience patterns.
- Build the reusable core: Terraform modules, deployment templates and platform services that let product teams self-serve production-grade infrastructure.
- Deliver all infrastructure through Terraform and secure CI/CD, so every change is automated, repeatable and reversible.
- Embed security, governance and compliance into the platform, with auditable evidence rather than just intent.
- Own reliability and run cost, lead the response to complex incidents and drive out repeat causes.
- Lead and mentor platform engineers while staying hands-on in architecture and the hardest technical problems.
Required profile
- A strong track record of architecting and running production cloud environments at scale, with production accountability for systems that matter.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluent English.
- Nice to have: experience in regulated industries, Kubernetes and serverless, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and FinOps and operational resilience.
Required skills
- Extensive cloud experience, primarily Azure with GCP as secondary.
- Fluency in landing zone and subscription design, private networking, containerized compute, API management and resilience patterns.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform, identity and observability at scale.
What we offer
- Full onboarding support and continued development opportunities.
- Flexible and hybrid working.
- Regular social activities, pension contributions and discretionary bonus scheme.
- Private health cover and life assurance.
- Family-friendly policies including enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
