Lab Director – Wireless Network Algorithms Laboratory

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Lab Director to lead the Wireless Network Algorithms Laboratory at Huawei Sweden R&D. The role combines deep technical expertise in wireless communication systems with leadership of a multidisciplinary research team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the lab’s strategic vision for advanced wireless algorithms (5G/6G, AI/ML-driven optimization).
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of researchers, engineers and academic collaborators.
• Oversee research projects, ensure publications in top‑tier journals and translate findings into industrial solutions.
• Build partnerships with universities, research institutes and industry partners to secure funding and joint projects.
• Manage lab resources, budgets, compliance with ethical standards and intellectual property policies.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field.
• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in wireless communication systems, including signal processing and network optimization.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams in academic and industrial settings.
• Strong publication record in IEEE/ACM venues and patents in wireless technologies.
• Proven track record of securing grants or industry partnerships and delivering large‑scale research projects.

Required skills

• Signal processing and network optimization for wireless networks.
• AI/ML techniques applied to wireless communication.
• Simulation tools such as MATLAB and NS‑3.
• Knowledge of 3GPP and IEEE wireless standards.
