Director, AI-Driven Patent Analytics

About the role

Ericsson is building a strategic capability at the intersection of artificial intelligence, patent analytics, and global technology licensing. As Director, AI-Driven Patent Analytics you will shape the roadmap, lead a specialist team and turn complex analytical methods into trusted decision support for licensing, litigation and portfolio strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define Ericsson’s strategy, roadmap, operating model and success measures for AI‑enabled patent analytics.
• Create and lead a specialist team, establishing scalable ways of working and coordinating expertise across the wider AI community.
• Prioritise high‑value use cases and deliver repeatable analyses for licensing, litigation, portfolio strategy, business development and public policy.
• Guide build, buy or partner decisions, ensuring solutions are secure, explainable, reliable and aligned with Ericsson requirements.
• Advise senior stakeholders and build productive relationships with internal teams, analytics vendors, research organisations, academics and industry experts.

Required profile

• Senior leader with strong analytical judgment and proven experience leading analytics, data‑science or AI transformation initiatives in complex, cross‑functional environments.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into prioritized roadmaps, practical analytical solutions and measurable outcomes.
• Knowledge of patent analytics, licensing, portfolio strategy or other evidence‑intensive IP domains; experience with standard‑essential patent analysis is a plus.
• Experience governing AI or analytics platforms, vendors or research partnerships; advanced degree in a relevant technical, analytical, economic or IP field is advantageous.
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to build, coach and empower high‑performing teams.

Required skills

• Expertise in AI methods and evaluation of external AI tools and data quality.
• Deep understanding of patent analytics and standard‑essential patent analysis.
• Familiarity with telecommunications, standards‑based technologies and global licensing environments.
