Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

Sweed is a Swedish beauty brand creating vegan and clean products with professional performance, founded by makeup artist Gabriella Elio. As the company expands across categories, channels and international markets, it is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to run the company day to day and scale its operations. Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the COO leads all functions except Finance, which reports directly to the CEO and Board.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery of the operating plan across growth, margins, costs, inventory, customer experience and organisational capability
• Lead all non-finance function heads, set goals and decision rights, and build a high-performing leadership team
• Set up annual planning, quarterly priorities, weekly performance reviews, KPI dashboards and risk escalation
• Drive commercial growth across B2B, key accounts, distributors, DTC, e-commerce and international expansion
• Coordinate marketing, PR, influencer, social, content and digital growth teams
• Build a stage-gated product launch process from forecast and regulatory readiness to go-to-market and post-launch review
• Strengthen demand planning, procurement, production, 3PL and logistics, and inventory health
• Upgrade capabilities, roles, systems, data and processes, using automation and AI where it adds value

Required profile

• Typically 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years leading multiple functions or a business unit
• Demonstrable P&L responsibility and a track record of scaling a consumer company
• Experience building systems, processes and teams while keeping entrepreneurial pace
• International operating experience and exposure to product launches, retail partnerships and DTC economics
• Fluent English; Swedish is an advantage but not required

Required skills

• P&L leadership in beauty, premium consumer goods, fashion or a similar brand-led category
• Scaling an omnichannel business across DTC/e-commerce and retail, wholesale or distributor channels
• Highly analytical and financially literate, comfortable moving between strategy and hands-on problem solving
