About the role
Join ABB Robotics' Mechanical Analysis R&D team for a master thesis focused on integrating probability and statistics into robot dimensioning. You will work on‑site in Västerås, collaborating with experts to improve design efficiency while maintaining safety.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct literature study on probabilistic mechanical design and reliability engineering.
- Analyze ABB Robotics' current dimensioning criteria and load calculation methods.
- Develop and test methodologies to predict failure probability and reduce conservatism.
- Document findings and provide recommendations for implementation.
Required profile
- Engineering student in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Physics, Mathematics or a related field.
- Knowledge of mechanical dimensioning and statistics/probability theory.
- Self‑driven, structured and analytical mindset.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
