About the role
This master thesis opportunity is within ABB Robotics' R&D sustainability team. You will develop a methodology to quantify the environmental impact of future AI and robotics technologies across their whole life cycle.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct literature study on environmental impacts of AI and future technologies.
- Analyze ABB Robotics' current setup and quantify AI influences using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with SimaPro.
- Identify environmental hotspots and evaluate technical and environmental scenarios.
- Document findings and provide recommendations for sustainable implementation.
Required profile
- Engineering student in sustainability, environmental or energy fields.
- Knowledge of carbon footprints, LCAs and SimaPro software.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Self‑driven, structured and analytical mindset.
