Senior Software Developer - Backend (Java)

About the role

Nasdaq is looking for a Senior Software Developer to play a key role in building and continuously improving its Real-Time Clearing (RTC) platform, which supports clearinghouses with integrated position keeping, risk management, collateral management and settlement. The role is based in Stockholm.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain complex backend functionality, ensuring high standards of quality, performance and resilience.
• Improve the scalability, usability and reliability of existing products across the full software lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Investigate production issues and help ensure the reliable operation of business-critical platforms.
• Collaborate with business analysts, testers, architects and client representatives to align on objectives and deliver results.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years of professional experience developing backend applications in Java.
• Proven ability to design and maintain reliable, scalable and testable software.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, structured, ownership-driven approach.
• Clear communicator with excellent written and spoken English, comfortable in cross-functional, global environments.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of capital markets, including clearing, settlement, trading or financial instruments.
• Experience with complex, distributed, transaction-intensive systems.
• Familiarity with build, delivery and monitoring practices in a continuous delivery environment.
