Human-Centered AI Researcher

About the role

The industrial landscape of the Nordics is undergoing a profound technological metamorphosis, and the Combient AI Center is leading the effort to develop sovereign intelligent systems for major industrial players. As a Human‑Centered AI Researcher you will work closely with the Anthropology Lead to study how these companies navigate the AI transition from a cultural anthropology perspective, ensuring that technical breakthroughs remain anchored in the human experience.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct deep ethnographic research on human‑AI interactions within industrial settings.
• Design and lead semi‑structured interviews and mixed‑methods studies to gather rich qualitative data.
• Apply qualitative analytical frameworks to understand the intersection of behavior and emerging technologies.
• Translate insights between senior leadership, ethics/policy teams, and technical engineering/data‑science groups.
• Integrate ethical and behavioral insights into product strategy and development lifecycles.
• Own research projects from conception through execution while collaborating with the broader team as needed.

Required profile

• Advanced humanist background in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, or Cognitive Science/HCI.
• Proven track record in user‑experience research with mastery of mixed‑methods data collection.
• Strong digital literacy and a solid understanding of machine‑learning fundamentals and LLM limitations.
• Strategic, self‑starting thinker who can propose research tracks and anticipate future needs.
• Adaptable communicator able to engage both academic audiences and commercial stakeholders.
