Development Engineer – Fixed‑Term (until March 2028)

About the role

Alfa Laval’s Portfolio Unit Electrolyzer and Fuel Cell is seeking a Development Engineer to support prototyping and testing of hydrogen technologies. The position is based in Lund and reports to the Head of R&D, covering a fixed‑term maternity cover until March 2028.

Key responsibilities

• Work in the Hydrogen lab equipped with wet‑chemistry facilities, surface‑analysis and catalytic activity testing equipment.
• Manage day‑to‑day lab operations, including inventory, ordering, experiment planning and coordination with complementary labs.
• Plan and execute tests, develop processes for prototyping and testing of prototypes.

Required profile

• Creative and analytical with a hands‑on, adaptable approach.
• Enjoys working in a chemistry laboratory from development phase through daily operation.
• Comfortable handling uncertainty and evaluating multiple outcomes.

Required skills

• Practical experience in a wet‑chemistry laboratory.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and ability to design reliable test protocols.
• Familiarity with surface‑analysis and catalytic activity testing equipment.
