Deputy Vice-Chancellor (University Leadership)

About the role

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor works closely with the Vice‑Chancellor to shape Lund University’s future, overseeing teaching, research and external engagement. This senior leadership position deputises for the Vice‑Chancellor when required and contributes to the strategic direction of the university.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Vice‑Chancellor in leading the university as a public authority.
• Deputise for the Vice‑Chancellor during absences, ensuring continuity of governance.
• Participate as a member of the University Management and the Vice‑Chancellor’s Management Council.
• Develop and implement strategies for teaching, research and external collaboration.
• Safeguard internal affairs, promoting academic freedom, diversity and innovation.
• Support the well‑being of students and staff and address complex societal challenges.

Required profile

• Professor with a strong, up‑to‑date academic background.
• Demonstrated experience in leading research and teaching initiatives.
• Commitment to the development of the university and its societal impact.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and external partners.
